Supported by Aid Beam: Brian’s Story.
Picture this: A young boy, born and raised in the slums of Kawangware, raised by my mother, who did everything she could to keep us going. Life was tough, and the future felt uncertain. I often wondered if I’d ever make it out or if my dreams would remain just that—dreams.
School was a struggle, not because I lacked the will to learn, but because we couldn’t afford it. There were days I’d sit outside the classroom, hoping to catch snippets of lessons. I knew education was my way out, but it felt like an impossible mountain to climb.
Then Aid Beam came into my life. They saw potential in me when I felt invisible, they extended a hand when I needed it the most. Through their support, I was able to go back to school, focus on my studies, and envision a brighter future. They didn’t just fund my education; they restored my hope and allowed me to dream again.
Today, I am proud to say I’m in nursing school, The Nairobi Women’s Hospital College, pursuing a career Diploma in Perioperative Theatre Technology that will allow me to give back and make a difference. The journey hasn’t been easy, but with Aid Beam’s support and my determination, I’ve come further than I ever thought possible.
To anyone out there facing challenges, know this: people and organizations are willing to help. Hold on to hope, because your story isn’t over yet. Mine certainly isn’t, I owe it all to Aid Beam.
